The first flag football practice in an inaugural season saw Monterey High School welcome 34 players. Flag football is now an official California Interscholastic Federation girls sport.
“There is a lot of talk on campus, especially from the boys’ football team,” junior Taylor Page said. “There has been a lot of support.”
At least 12 schools in the tri-region area have signed on, with the potential for more schools adding the sport in the coming week.

With its only outdoor facility on campus being shared for football and field hockey practice, Monterey is conducting its practices above the campus at Via Paraiso Park two to three days a week.
