Coach Travis Elder is a proud Monterey alumnus Class of 2006. He was a 3 year letterman in Varsity Baseball and a member of the 2005 CCS Championship winning team. Member of the SPARC Academy while at MHS. Attended MPC before transferring to San Francisco State to study Broadcast Journalism. Announced MHS Football, Basketball, and Softball games at various points over the last 20+ years.

Elder was an Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at Monterey High for 18 seasons before taking the Softball job in 2025. Learned from all time great HS Baseball Coach Michael Groves on how to lead a successful program. Assistant Coach on the 2011 and 2022 CCS Championship winning teams. 

Current Monterey resident along with his wife Catherine (MHS c/o 2007) and daughter Madison (MHS c/o 2042). San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and Kansas Jayhawks fan.

Fun Fact: Student of Gary Childs II at both Walter Colton Middle School and Monterey High.
